Investment from Boulder-based She’s Independent Investments will enable CranioSense to accelerate clinical validation, regulatory milestones, and manufacturing readiness for its breakthrough intracranial pressure assessment system.
BOULDER, Colo. — Boulder, CO and Bedford, MA, USA – November 10, 2025 – She’s Independent Investments, a member-led angel investment group based in Boulder, Colorado, announced its investment in CranioSense, a clinical-stage medical device startup. The investment will enable the company to accelerate clinical validation, regulatory milestones, and manufacturing readiness for its non-invasive intracranial pressure assessment system.
CranioSense is developing a fast, accurate, and affordable alternative to today’s invasive brain pressure monitoring methods. Its breakthrough technology, described as the “blood pressure cuff for the brain,” aims to reduce dangerous misdiagnoses and make life-saving diagnostics accessible to millions of patients worldwide. This innovation is especially significant for conditions like pseudotumor cerebri, which disproportionately affects women, with about 95% of patients being women of childbearing age, underscoring the urgent need for safer, more accessible diagnostic tools.
“The reason Kris and I started this is because we started talking to patients, mothers, and caregivers, and thought it was insane that we did not have a better way to diagnose these patients,” said Ryan Myers, CEO and Co-Founder of CranioSense. “Everybody we met in She’s Independent who ended up investing in us had those same perspectives, whether they were a patient, caregiver, or physician—they lived what we are trying to improve.”
CranioSense is advancing equitable healthcare innovation through rapid, non-invasive brain diagnostics, reflecting She’s Independent’s mission to empower women investors to drive meaningful impact across industries. As Ryan shared, “The great thing about She’s Independent is that it is not just one person; it’s a growing network that continues to expand.”
She’s Independent Investment Member Katerina Yard shared: “What excites me most about CranioSense is its potential to revolutionize a critical aspect of neurological care. The company is tackling a dangerous, common, and costly medical problem—elevated brain pressure—with an innovative non-invasive device that promises to be significantly faster, more accurate, and less expensive than the current, often risky, standards of care. This aligns with a core investment philosophy of backing high-impact ventures that address significant unmet medical needs and improve patient outcomes. The combination of a large $5B U.S. market, a compelling high-margin ‘razor-and-blade’ business model, and significant clinical traction with top-tier hospitals presents a powerful case for both strong financial returns and profound societal benefit. Furthermore, the technology itself has the potential to advance healthcare equity. By developing an accessible, low-cost, and easy-to-use diagnostic tool, CranioSense can democratize access to critical neurological assessments, enabling a higher standard of care in community hospitals and underserved areas that may lack specialized resources.”
When speaking with Investment Member Pamela Sousa, she shared, “I was inspired to invest in CranioSense because of the unmet need in brain health diagnostics. There are many important applications, including dementia (which has impacted our family) and Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension, which disproportionately affects women of reproductive age.”

###
CranioSense is a privately held Massachusetts-based start-up dedicated to transforming brain health diagnostics through non-invasive technology. Its Intracranial Pressure and Assessment Screening System (IPASS) measures intracranial pressure in seconds using a forehead patch, clip-on sensors, and a handheld device, eliminating the need for invasive procedures like drilling into the skull. This innovation enables rapid, on-demand assessment of brain pressure, which is critical for managing conditions such as traumatic brain injury, stroke, and cerebral hypertension. CranioSense is currently in the clinical stage, having completed studies demonstrating high correlation with ICU gold standards, and is collaborating with institutions like Mass General Hospital for algorithm validation. In 2025, the company won the top prize at the M2D2 $200K Challenge, further validating its innovative approach.
