For foundations, DAF holders, family offices and corporate partners

Two ways to put impact capital to work.

Invest philanthropic dollars alongside ours, into companies we source and diligence ourselves. And fund the women and founders learning and stepping into allocating theirs.

Investing with us doesn’t require you to trade the return for the impact.

Invest alongside us

For private foundations, donor-advised fund holders, family offices and individuals who want impact capital in private companies, not only in grants.

You invest into the same syndicates our members do. Same companies, same terms, same diligence, same one line on the cap table.

Philanthropic investments start at $10,000.

Sponsor transformation

For foundations, companies, universities and individuals who want to fund the people rather than the deal.

You cover memberships, cohorts and founder education for women and founders who aren’t yet in a position to pay their own way in.

Sponsorship packages start at $2,500 annually.

Conscious capital

We don’t underwrite a discount.

The gaps are the market. Postmenopausal bone loss. Shoulder dystocia. UTI diagnostics. Skin tones left out of clinical trials. The caregiving load.

These are underfunded because of who traditionally allocates capital, not because the businesses are weak.

We invest from a place of values and investment governance. Every company goes through a screening and diligence process before we even consider writing a check. We have a quality deal sourcing machine in place and are ready to allocate more checks with the right financial partners.

Half our portfolio is building for health outcomes women were left out of. We have seen numerous successful Series A raises out of our initial seed checks.

Our managing partner, Natalie Levy, also has an institutional investment background and a track record.

How we underwrite.

01 · Sourcing

About 800 companies reach us each year — through our brand, our place in the venture ecosystem, our investor relationships, the universities we teach at, founders we’ve already backed, and simply being out in the community.

02 · Screening

Our deal team reviews every submission and routes the strongest into screening calls. A small number pitch our investor community live each quarter.

03 · Diligence

Four to six weeks, run by our members, with operators, clinicians, lawyers and engineers from inside the community at the table before any capital moves. It ends in a recommendation to invest or pass.

04 · The Check

We form and manage the investment vehicle ourselves and stay with it from close through exit. We may choose to re-invest, and we often amplify our companies through introductions, brand visibility, and our executive investor network.

We run our own investor syndications.

That is deliberate. It keeps costs investor-friendly and allows us to be intentional when and where we choose to allocate.

Investment sponsorship isn’t hypothetical education.

Our investor community supports, educates and inspires the launch of angel investors, and develops the investors coming after them. The learning happens alongside our deal rooms and our investor conversations, not in a classroom next to them.

We have launched dozens of new investors this way. More than a dozen more have told us they would take a sponsored seat.

All are welcome. This is about accessible investing and investment education, not only a community of women.

A seat at the deal table

Dues for someone not yet in a position to pay them. Weekly deal calls, the full education library, the private Slack, and a place on a diligence team — the same seat every other member has. $375 a year as an Investment Observer.

A learning community

Intro to Angel Investing, Money Mindset and Special Topics, run as a series for a university, an employee network or a community organization. Delivered at CU Boulder, Colorado School of Mines, the University of Denver, and a Fortune 100 women’s employee network.

Founder education

Founders learn the investor’s side: what diligence actually asks for, what a term sheet does, how a syndicate forms. Open whether or not we ever invest. Many of the founders in our venture ecosystem plan to allocate as investors themselves when they’re ready.

How the money moves.

Different vehicles, depending on what you are funding. Tell us how your capital is structured and we will tell you what is possible.

Sponsorship

Donor-advised fund grants. Private and community foundation grants. Corporate giving and CSR budgets. Individual gifts.

She’s Independent is not a 501(c)(3). Grant and donor-advised capital reaches this work through a fiscal sponsor, which is also what carries the deduction. We can explore this with you and connect on what your requirements need it to look like.

From $2,500 annually.

Investing

Family office and individual capital. Endowment dollars. Donor-advised-fund-directed private investment.

You come into the same investment vehicle our members do. This is an investment, not a gift — it isn’t deductible, and it is underwritten to return.

Investments starting at $10,000.

Additional information.

Can I fund this from a donor-advised fund?

Donor-advised funds can either fund investments with She’s Independent or be used to sponsor investment education and investor membership. Ask us and we’ll walk you through it.

While She’s Independent does not seek investing at below-market rates, we’d be happy to explore it. We have a portfolio and a wider venture ecosystem of companies that may be a good fit, even if it isn’t a perfect fit through She’s Independent.

Grants to the education work, through a fiscal sponsor, are the straightforward route.

Through a fiscal sponsor, yes. An investment into a syndicate is not.

We can discuss and explore this. Sponsoring individuals to launch as investors will not drive preferential treatment around which deals get funded.

Sponsorship packages start at $2,500 annually. Investing philanthropic capital alongside us starts at $10,000. An individual who’d rather start smaller can come in through membership, where a first check is $2,500.

More than a dozen individuals have already told us they’d take a sponsored seat, so we have demand we’d like to fulfil. We work the selection out with you, and organizations regularly sponsor their own people — employees, students, grantees.

Either. Some sponsors want the association, some would rather not have it. Tell us which and we’ll handle it that way.

Tell us how you’d like to move your money.

We’re looking forward to connecting with you.
