What is She’s Independent?

A women-first angel investment group. We launch investors: you learn the deal cycle by working it, build your own thesis, and decide deal by deal which founders you back.

Women-led, and open to anyone who believes capital should reach quality businesses in overlooked markets and founders.

100+ members, from first-time investors to institutional finance backgrounds, investing together.

We offer membership tiers to fit your needs:

Investment Observer — $375/year. Build your investor mindset and strategy. Every SI event, our full investment education library, a seat on weekly deal calls, and the private member Slack. You can screen, source, and help lead deals. Pitch Day recording within 24 hours.

Investment Member — $950/year. Everything an Observer gets, plus the part that matters: you can write checks. Attend Pitch Day live, vote on who pitches, earn carry as a diligence lead, and access off-cycle deals.

Invest Together — $1,250/year. Two memberships, one household. Every Investment Member benefit, doubled, and you invest side by side.

Friend of SI — $250/year. For investors looking to allocate with us and receive deal updates and receive an invitation to our pitch events but without access to our learning events and weekly deal calls.

Start as an Investment Observer. Per SEC regulations only accredited investors can invest with us.

Everything else is open to you: the deal calls, the education, the diligence work, the Slack, the pitch recordings. Plenty of our members spent their first year learning this way and upgraded the moment they qualified.

You can upgrade anytime.

$2,500 for your first check. After that, $5,000 per deal.

Our syndicate typically writes $70–110K into a company, which lands as a single line on the cap table. Your check is part of that.

There is no minimum number of deals, and no obligation to invest in any of them.

As much or as little as you want. 

The rhythm: weekly deal calls (fully optional), a quarterly Pitch Day, monthly learning sessions, and a 4–6 week diligence deep dive on any company you choose to help evaluate. Our member Slack carries incoming deals, venture news, and an on-demand education library between meetings.

Nearly everything is recorded, so you can catch up on your own schedule. Some members run diligence and earn deal carry. Some join a call a month. Some read Slack and allocate when something clicks.

Every quarter, 100–200 companies come to us — from members, our founder ecosystem, partner organizations, and events. Members run sourcing and screening calls continuously.

Investment Members then vote on who pitches. Votes are weighted. 5–6 companies pitch live at our quarterly Pitch Day. The strongest go into a 4–6 week community-led diligence deep dive, and 1–2 get funded each quarter.

You are invited into every step of that — alongside a mentor, on your own, or just watching.

Early stage — Seed and Seed+, occasionally pre-Seed through Series A where we see alignment.

We are industry agnostic on paper, but our members consistently lean into health care and health tech, fem tech, sustainability, and clean tech. 

We look for a large enough market for a sizable exit, and we lean toward women- and diverse-led founders given the gaps in the funding ecosystem.

No. None.

There are no participation requirements and no obligation to invest in any deal. Some members run diligence. Some read Slack and allocate when something clicks. Some spend a year learning before writing a first check. All of it is a valid way to be here.

You engage for as long as you want to. And once you have invested in a company, you continue receiving deal updates from us from there.

Most in-person events are in and around Colorado, though local chapters gather elsewhere and we travel for events a few times a year.
